Work Groups
Work Groups, or Communities of Practice, enable building a community of knowledge that is not confined to a single physical locality. Facilitate knowledge sharing - enabling personal knowledge to become organizational knowledge and organizational knowledge to become personal knowledge. Work Groups can also function as virtual team centers, allowing multiple project teams from multiple centers to collaborate and work toward a common goal.
Work Group functionality includes:
The work group functionality in PBMA is provided by the Enhanced Security Work Groups (ESWG). The ESWG offers some key benefits such as one UserID and Password for access to all work groups and has the ability to link multiple work groups together while maintaining security. + Enhanced Security Work Groups (ESWG)
ESWG (sometimes referred to as Communities of Practice) are available as a baseline functionality of Process Based Mission Assurance (PBMA). ESWG provide multi-dimensional, collaborative functionality to support the NASA Safety and Mission Assurance community, individual program/project teams as well as formal and informal groups of subject matter experts. Membership is limited to those individuals involved in making NASA programs and projects successful, including contractors, industry partners, academia and international partners. Membership in the community is predicated on the notion of reciprocity and sharing of knowledge as well as responsiveness to the needs and inquiries of the community.
