1.1.1 NASA Safety and Mission Success Requirements


NPD 8700.1A is the top level Safety and Mission Success directive. This directive establishes overall NASA policy for Safety and Mission Success. The directive outlines specific responsibilities regarding NASA Safety and Mission Success for:
  • Each NASA organizational element,
  • Associate Administrator of Safety and Mission Assurance,
  • Enterprise Associate Administrators (EAAs),
  • Center Directors and the Associate Administrator for the Office of Headquarters Division,
  • Program and project managers, and
  • Center and Headquarters Office SMA Functional Managers

1.1.1.2.1    Administrator Directives (Policy Letters)
Periodically the NASA Administrator will issue a message, or policy letter, regarding some area of health and safety. Until such time that those policy letters can be rolled into the applicable NASA document, they are posted at the NASA Online Directives Information System Administrator Messages link.

NASA Center Directives are available via the NASA Online Directives Information System Center Directives link.
